Upward 2022-23 Program Cancelled

After reviewing program registration and volunteer capacity, the leadership of Newton Baptist Church has made the difficult decision to cancel this year's Upward program.

While we won't be holding Upward this year, other Upward Basketball programs are available in nearby communities (McDonough & Loganville) and can be found through the Upward website.

For those who have already registered and paid, we will be in touch regarding refunds the week of 10/24.

Upward is a fun, reliable, passionate and encouraging sports experience for boys and girls, K4 - 8th grade.

Upward Sports is a nationwide Youth Sports Program designed to build young people mentally, athletically, spiritually, and socially. Newton Baptist Church provides a first class sports league for youth basketball and cheerleading.

Upward is about much more than the game. Through the following unique systems, the League focuses to include and build all players.

• Evaluation system - promotes equal and competitive teams
• Substitution system - allows for equal playing time for all participants
• Coaching & Team Development - children are exposed to quality coaching and sports development.

Upward Basketball

Upward Basketball League focuses on Skills Training, Character Development, Drills & Gameplay. Players are evaluated according to age group and play in an age specific division.

Registration & Evaluations

After completing registration, please plan to attend the evaluation. Evaluations take approximately one hour. During this time, players will go through a skills evaluation and check sizing for jersey.

Upward Cheer

Cheer teams set the tone of gameday! Cheer focuses on character development, skills, and spirit.

Registration & Evaluations

Cheerleaders must attend one orientation and fitting session. There are no evaluations for cheerleaders.

We encourage multi-player families to come on the same night! Though there are no evaluations for cheerleaders, those with siblings playing basketball should plan to get sizing done at the same time as the basketball evaluation.
