You were created to connect with God. And there’s no better place to start than here.
Since 2001, Newton Baptist has served Covington, Conyers, and surrounding Georgia communities by providing a place where people connect with God and others. No matter who you are, you are welcome here.
Over the past two decades, Newton Baptist Church has grown from a strong core of people to a diverse church family. We are here to help people find hope in Jesus!
Everything in the Christian life begins with Loving God. Jesus said:
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. (Matthew 22:37–38)
Loving God means that I understand what he has done for me by sending Jesus Christ to die on the cross for my sins. Then, I choose to follow Jesus with my life!
Here are some ways we help people Love God at Newton:
As we love God, the way we interact with others begins to change. Jesus said that loving God and putting Others First go hand in hand:
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. (Matthew 22:37–40)
At Newton, here’s how you can put others first:
We believe that a church full of people that will put Others First is a church that will change the world!
When Loving God is combined with Others First, it becomes a movement that we call "Vision for the World."
Loving God and loving people means we share with them the hope we have found in Jesus Christ. Whether globally through foreign missions or locally with ministry and outreach, our purpose is rooted in a vision to see every person around the world hear the Gospel.
Here are a few ways we implement God’s Vision for the World:
Everyone wants to enjoy life, but often we’re searching for happiness in all the wrong places. This may seem backward but follow along for a moment. When you choose to live for Jesus and others, you will experience the greatest satisfaction in life. The Bible says this:
I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. Acts 20:35
If you couple gratitude for God’s goodness with a self-less life, you can genuinely enjoy life. Here’s what it looks like to Enjoy Life at Newton:
